Sub: Various admission schemes to "Study in India" through Ed.CIL
Dear
Sir
This is my enduring privilege to introduce you about
Educational Consultants India Limited (Ed.CIL) which is a
Government of India Enterprise under the administrative control
of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of
India, offering consultancy and technical services in different
areas of education and human resource development on a global
basis. Ed.CIL offers services for placement of international
students in Indian Universities/Institutions for
higher studies/professional training, secondment of Indian
experts/faculty, and technical assistance for the establishment
of educational institutions, curricula, etc
Admission of international students in Indian institutions has been
one of the core strength areas of Ed.CIL. In the past, we had
organized placement of international students from most of the
countries in Asia and Africa. Ed.CIL offers admission to
international students/NRIs /PIOs in India under following three
categories:
I.
GOVT. OF INDIA SPONSORED SCHEMES:
Following three schemes are executed under the category
1) DASA (DIRECT ADMISSION OF STUDENTS ABROAD) Ed.CIL has been
designated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development,
Government of India as the exclusive "Coordinating Agency & Single
Window Facility"for the direct admission of eligible Foreign
Nationals/Persons of Indian Origin(PIOs) / Non-Resident
Indians(NRIs) to Under-Graduate Engineering Programs offered by
the 14 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) located at
Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jaipur, Jalandhar,
Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Nagpur, Rourkela, Surat, Surathkal,
Trichy and Warangal ; 2 Indian Institutes of Information
Technology(IIITs) located at Allahabad and Gwalior and 4 other
Institutions such as NIFF-Ranchi, NERIST-Itanagar, SLIET-Longowal
and PEC-Chandigarh Under the scheme, more than 1200 seats are
offered for the admission to the eligible candidates under the
15% supernumerary quota. The Eligibility criteria for the
candidates in terms of age, residence and qualification are as
follow:
a.Age: Maximum age limit is 25 years as on 1st October of that
particular year.
b.Residence: Candidate must be a Foreign National /Persons of
Indian
Origin(PIOs) studying in any country (including India) Or Indian
National Studying abroad(The Indian national smust have at least
three years of education in a foreign country during the last six
years and must pass the qualyifying examination from abroad only.
c.Academic Qualification: Must have secured minimum of
atleast 60%
aggregate marks or 6.75 CGPA on a 10 point scale or equivalent
grades in all the subjects of the qualifying examination.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR DIASPORA CHILDREN (SPDC) SCHEME:
The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India,
introduced a Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) for
wards of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident
Indians (NRIs) to assist them in pursuing Higher and Technical
Education. The SPDC is applicable for undergraduate studies in
Professional and General Courses (except Medical and related
courses).Assistance provided under it shall comprise of
financial assistance primarily towards tuition fee, admission fee,
and post admission services which is 75% of the Institutional
Economic Cost (IEC) subject to maximum of USD3600 per annum. The
programme is applicable to Indian Diaspora from 40 select
countries. Scholarship is provided to 100 selected students and out
of total 100, 50 seats are reserved for PIOs and 50 for NRIs.

MEA SCHEME FOR NEPALI NATIONALS:
The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India provide this
scheme as a aid to Nepal Govt. Nepali students are nominated by
Indian Embassy, every year 80 students in B.Tech,10 students in
Pharmacy,20 students in M.Tech and 2 students in LLM get
opportunity to study in India. The scheme allowances to students
include monthly expenditure, tuition fees and one time traveling To
& Fro during the course.
II.
SELF FINANCE SCHEME (SFS)
Under this scheme Ed.CIL offers admission to the
International(Foreign nationals /NRIs/ PIOs) students who bear their
cost of education themselves in Under-Graduate
/Post-Graduate/Doctoral programs etc in various Indian Institutions
in the discipline of Arts, Agriculture, Commerce, Engineering, Hotel
management, Medical, Management, Pharmacy, Science etc. The
admission for such candidates are arranged in Ed.CIL's
associated institutions on Institution Economic Cost (IEC)* basis *IEC
is a package, which includes tuition fee, all university
charges, examination fee, eligibility fee, hostel
accommodation with water and electricity, mess establishment
charges (excluding mess fee), and medical facilities for minor
ailments at Universities/Institute's dispensary.
Normally IEC is charged by the University in US Dollars.

III.
FOREIGN GOVT./CLIENT SPONSORED SCHEMES:
Ed.CIL enters into MoU with Foreign Govt./Client to provide
admission to the students sponsored by them into its 135
associated institutes in the disciplines of Arts, Agriculture,
Commerce, Engineering, Hotel management, Medical, Management,
Pharmacy, Science etc. So far Ed.CIL has arranged admission for
students sponsored from Bhutan, Maldives, Libya, Syria, Rwanda,
Tanzania, Saudi Arabia, etc in Indian institutions
